Hello! Welcome to the mini blog section of my site! Here is where I share news, sneak peeks of current projects, and info about upcoming events.

After two and a half years spent in San Francisco and Brooklyn, I’m home in Montana for the time being and I’m oh so grateful to be here. I am relishing the fresh air, quality time with family, and the wonderful accessibility of quiet moments with myself, my art, and nature.

I got a kiln installed at my home in January and have since been busy exploring ceramics and how to express myself and my style through this medium. I’ve enjoyed learning how to fire my own work and witnessing my painting style evolve in new ways— I have different preferences and techniques now that I am more accustomed to underglaze rather than watercolors or acrylics, like I’ve used frequently in the past. The ceramic process is long and detailed, and a successful finished product relies on many different factors. This has pushed me to let go of perfectionist tendencies and helped me to embrace the whimsical, “imperfect” aspects of my illustrations.

My next website shop update will be on Sunday, November 3rd at 3pm MST. This will be the second to last shop update of 2024, with the second planned for Monday, December 16th. These will be the final opportunities to purchase Mattie Jane Art ceramics or jewelry before the holidays. More details regarding both shop updates will be posted to my Instagram as the dates approach.

This fall and winter, I will be attending three local in-person art markets in Montana. The Bozeman Fall Made Fair is October 18th & 19th at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. The Helena Holiday Made Fair is December 6th & 7th at the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds. The Missoula Holiday Made Fair is on December 15th at the Adams Center.

My commissions are currently closed as I slowly work my way through the many custom orders I have lined up. For those of you that are hoping to place a custom order but missed the September sign up— please stay tuned! I have not chosen a date for when my commissions reopen, but when I do, I will post updates to my Instagram and send out a newsletter via email a few days before.
